The Glade: A Mystical Forest Inside Sketch

The Glade: A Mystical Forest Inside Sketch

The Glade is one of Sketch’s four restaurants, located in the back of their grand Mayfair townhouse. Serving breakfast and lunch during the day, and turning into an eclectic cocktail bar at night. With ethereal decor that calls to be photographed, we visited and ate at this fabulous venue to give you the low-down on what to expect.

What is The Glade?

The Glade is one of Sketch’s more casual eateries, only serving food at breakfast and lunch. Sketch is well-known amongst the Instagram and Mayfair crowd for its stunning interiors, impeccable service, and delicious food – you also might be familiar with their quirky egg toilets!

The Glade is decorated as if it was a magical forest, with a grass-inspired floor and velvet covered chairs.

The Glade has two menus: breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is served from 9am – 11am every day, whilst lunch is served from 12pm – 5pm. From 6pm onwards the venue is a bar.

Breakfast Menu:

The breakfast menu is split into two halves: “To Begin Your Day” which boasts acai bowls, waffles, and lighter options like danishes and fruit, as well as “Eggs” – where you guessed it they’re serving eggs in every way imaginable!

Lunch “Sea & Shore” Menu:

Choose between two dishes for £40 or three for £45. For starters you can choose from dishes such as Sea-bream ceviche or artichoke soup, for mains there’s roasted god, truffle parmesan gnocchi, or beetroot risotto. Whilst dessert comes in a serving of three!

Eclectic Cocktails at The Glade

The cocktail menu begins with nibbles (only available until 10pm) where you can treat yourself to mini crab cakes, a cheese plate, or even macarons.

The cocktail menu has four sections: “Everything can be art,” “A Florists Temptations,” “Mindful Drinking,” “Sketch Art & Design.” Prices start at £11 for non-alcoholic cocktails, whilst alcoholic drinks begin at £18.

Our Experience at Sketch’s Glade

We booked into The Glade for breakfast, with one of the first bookings of the day at 9am on a frosty January morning. If you want to experience Sketch away from the hustle and bustle of the evening then we’d certainly recommend visiting at breakfast time.

When you arrive you are greeted at the reception desk and shown to your table in The Glade, you can stop at the cloak room on the way if you wish to leave anything there whilst you enjoy your meal.

We started the meal with a round of coffees, as is necessary at 9am on a Saturday morning! For food we opted for the waffles which are topped with sumptuous berries and a Chantilly cream (you can add maple syrup if you wish), as well as eggs benedict which was equally delicious.

The thing we really like about The Glade, is that compared to some of the other restaurants in Sketch (such as the Lecture Room and Library) it’s far more affordable. Our meal came well below £30 each, which for a Mayfair restaurant is fantastic!
