Cherry Blossoms are a type of floral tree, often associated with Japan, covered in white or pink blooms. They are also referred to as Sakura, and symbolise new beginnings. The pretty blossoms are a stunning way that nature welcomes Spring to the streets of London.

When is Cherry Blossom Season in London?

If you’re wanting to see cherry blossoms, you’ll need to visit London in the Spring. From late March to mid-April, the city is awash with delicate pink and white blossoms, turning the streets into a stunning sea of colour. We might be biassed, but we think this is one of the most magical times of year in our beautiful city!  In general, cherry blossoms tend to bloom when the weather is mild and sunny, but they can also be affected by wind, rain, and frost. London is home to some stunning Royal Parks, as well as those that are equally beautiful but a little less royal. These are our top London parks to see Cherry Blossoms:

  • Greenwich Park – Greenwich Park is a peaceful spot to enjoy the cherry blossom season in London. This is a popular floral London place among locals and tourists alike, whilst you’re here make sure you walk up the hill to get a breathtaking view across the city!
  • St James’s Park – Located right beside Buckingham Palace, St James’s Park is a perfect spot to have a picnic and enjoy the cherry blossoms in London. The lake is surrounded by the pretty pastel trees.
  • Battersea Park –  Battersea Park is a popular spot for locals but often overlooked by tourists. The park is full of gorgeous plants and flowers, and in the spring you’ll uncover many cherry blossom trees in the park. We recommend wandering south of the river towards the bottom of the park to find the blooms!
